At the beginning of the Pandemic, brides and grooms had to change their plans due to the unknown of the COVID virus, along with strict social distancing guidelines. Now, 6 months in, it looks like precautions around COVID might be here longer than we thought, and what we may have originally envisioned as our 2021 wedding, may end up looking a bit different.

With so many 2020 weddings being postponed and prioritized by venues and suppliers for their dates in 2021, it leaves a very small availability window opened to newly-engaged couples. The demand for weekend wedding dates, may even mean that venues could run out of weekends to offer in 2021.

What is a Micro Wedding?

A micro wedding is an intimate affair, typically less than 40 guests. It's similar to the traditional wedding, just on a smaller, more manageable scale.

It’s time to wave goodbye to traditional wedding cakes in place of cheese towers and cheese boards, donuts and grazing tables! Cheese-loving millennials have ditched tradition by opting for a tiered cheese tower over a traditional wedding cake, which has helped showcase local cheese. A variety of cheese wheels stacked on top of each other, with artisan bread, crackers, fruit and flower decorations, has grown in popularity as an alternative dessert for a wedding.

While some couples have delayed their dream wedding until 2021, others are going ahead with a small wedding this year. Of course, a lot of wedding couples are quite disappointed because they’ve been building towards their 2020 wedding for so long, but small weddings at least gives them the opportunity to still be able to celebrate this year with a more intimate & budget friendly wedding.
