Alix + Kevin | Fairytale Love turned into a Western Themed Wedding

A Fairytale Love story

Alix and Kevin met back in October 2016 while she was teaching math at a school that both of their kids attended. Interestingly enough, Alix was also the coaches assistant on a bowling team that Kevin’s son was on. The intertwining of friendship between families started years before Alix & Kevin became a couple. During those years, Alix was married to her husband Steve, a hot rodder who loved vintage classic cars. With all the work her husband did, they would frequently go to Lowe’s to get parts and supplies. Well, one day, while looking for some much needed gadgets, they ran into Kevin, a Lowe’s employee. They chatted and connected like they haven’t before, creating a newly formed friendship. The universe kept bringing these two together in many mysterious ways, but no one really payed attention to it until Alix’s husband, Steve passed away.

When Steve passed away, Alix was utterly lost. She didn’t know what to do as a single mom, even though her six children were all grown. She had no idea how to run a house without Steve. An eye opening moment for her, was when she received a letter from the homeowner’s association, telling her that her yard needed some attention. Well, what do you know, when she went to Lowe’s to get weed killer, Kevin was there to help her. At that time, only month’s passed since Steve’s passing, and so she was really rather lost still, with very little energy.

Then in August, something only she can say, was by divine intervention happened. Alix had to drive a half and hour away, to drop her son off to do something for his lifeguarding job. She went to run some errands in the area, and looked up the nearest hardware store to get some Brewer’s yeast. Not paying attention, her GPS routed her to Kevin’s Lowe’s store. Not only did she end up at his store, but the VERY moment she walked in, he was walking by. They started a lengthy conversation that day, and phone numbers were officially exchanged. What started out as friendship became much more not too long after that.

Alix’s Western Themed Wedding

I don’t remember the first time I saw a western themed wedding, but it definitely was what I wanted for us. I knew I wanted the bolo tie, jeans and boots, not just for us, but for the guests as well. We started looking around for a venue that had the rustic and quaint feel to it. Being Texas, there were a lot to choose from, but even with 50 guests and under, the pricing was just crazy! We either ran into wonderful people who were asking more than our budget allowed or affordable but not very good communication and amenities, nor were they all inclusive with the price we asked for.

My oldest daughter happened to run across County Line Event Center’s website and she forwarded the information to me. It was love at first site. It had everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - we looked for: pricing, amenities, services, and the all inclusive package. On top of that, the staff was so nice and accommodating! Meloney worked with us from small details to the bigger ones, and she was able to get us the date we hoped for after having had issues with COVID, as we thought we’d never get a date. The “a la carte” option in the packages helped us tremendously as well.

Everyone from the coordinators (ours were Heather and Erin) to bartender to DJ and even our officiant were amazing. The venue is so beautiful and exactly what I envisioned, and I don’t mean just the building where the ceremony took place but the cottage and cabin as well.

Kevin and I have been blessed in so many ways. Through losing my husband, then grief, COVID, a crazy winter storm in Texas, losing Kevin’s dad to COVID in February, and numerous other things, we made it to May 2, 2021 to exchange vows. And what more better, perfect place than at the County Line Event Center to top it all off! God just knows not what you want, but more importantly, he knows what you need.
